The Festival ... what a huge event that was , if you think about it , its like opening 10 new business for only 2 days . you have to set those business up with permits, supplies, equipment, decor, menu, advertising , managers , employees , food and Drink. We opened a Bar , Barbecue place , Saje Bakery, Shawarma joint , Falafel shack, Cafe' Abou al abed , Hooka saloon , a Snack bar . a Fakher el deen full Lebanese Meza restaurant . Pizza parlor and a full Sea sweet and lou lou French deserts . Now, when all that was done throw in a theatrical folkloric show . If you think that is easy, then let me add to all that, raising all the funds needed to pay for it , all before you open for business. wait ! be under the weather's mercy . Then on the third day... bring it all down and pack it up neatly for next year.
Now tell me if the hand of god was not with us all, and if we were not doing it for the love of our church, would we be able to pull it off ? with US ALL I mean ... everyone who lend a helping hand , who attended , who promoted , who gave willingly , who came, ate , enjoyed and thanked . as I always say it takes a village . Thank God. Camilia

OK, I will go first. Following are my comments and the comments that I have received from the Public during the festival:
The positives: Great Food, especially the Sajj, falafel, shawarma, and sweets. Great dance entertainment Acting sketches were great Beer Garden was a great idea. All booths were well organized. Top tent was great in this weather. Food prices were acceptable, and should not be pushed more next year.
Things that need to improve over the years: The one dollar charge was not well received; also it was not controlled from the lower parking lot side and was not consistent for both days. Also the $5.00 parking charge was not applied on both days. We need consistency. Inconsistencies lead into suspicion about our leadership in planning. The speakers were very bad during the singing and dancing. Next year we should test the whole show in advance. Games were a killer for parents, this is a cultural festival we should not concentrate on big games Men bathroom need a suction or blow fan. Need more trash can, recycle bins and more servicing to empty them. The hookah and drinks needs to stay in the beer garden area and should be prevented from leaving. Beer Garden needs better control. Electrical set-up should be done a week in advance. Need to work on the Sajj line. More Sajjs is not the answer. People were cutting each other in the line. Set-up: We need to set-up one week in advance, tables, equipment, electricity, sound system, gas. We also need a list of the setup team. This year we waited for some imaginary volunteers and they never showed up. The list & commitments should be secured well in advance. Ticket booth desk should be oriented toward the stairs, in order to better serve the line. Make one booth as a Lebanese Dekeneh Need some kind of food to sell at the Beer Garden, maybe some easy stuff from the mezza booth, which can be stacked and sold with the beer. Need to mix in smaller diameter tables for groups of 4 & 6 people. Need an additional microwave for the sweet booth. Candy booth needs to be relocated to the lower level near the games. Raymond needs help servicing the booths. The BBQ section. I have received several comments concerning the BBQ. Some of the food was burned on the outside and in some occasions raw in the inside. (BBQing frozen stuff).
All the above comments are meant to be constructive, and to lead into a better 7th annual Festival. We have all worked hard and we have produced a great and respectable package in less than six years. The next few years will be the tweaking period into perfection.

Congratulations to everyone at the Church on a wonderful festival. It was obviously encouraging to see everyone having a good time. I was also impressed with the number of individuals that were spending time visiting/praying in the Church as well as watching the performances.
Since this is only the second festival I have been associated with, it is difficult to make a lot of comparisons, but the general comments I heard was how this festival has continued to grow each year. I think it would be good to brainstorm a bit on how to continue this growth and ensure that the experience remains pleasurable to all involved.

Hello everyone. Id like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to you on behalf of the Festival committee for your recent contribution of time and effort to the Mariam Mother of Life Festival. This event could not have been a success without the help of every single one of you volunteers and workers who donated their time or money to help out. Everything went the way it was planned, and in many ways, it was even better. The rain and harsh weather did not stand in our way. Not only people were happy because of the food, they were happy about the performances, and I was happy to be walking around and seeing smiling faces on each volunteer and every visitor. Once again, thank you for the time and energy you devoted for the church and Mariam Mother of Life. The outcome for this years event was such a great success and it would not have been possible without your dedication.
Thank you, and God Bless. Christine Mouannes Festival Food and Donation Coordinator
